Event – My Name is Asher Lev

Posted by admin · Leave a Comment

The Sisterhood has purchased a limited number of tickets to this production of the Delaware Theater Company. My name is Asher Lev explores the questions of art, family, religion and loyalty, in this adaptation of Chaim Potok’s novel in a powerful coming-of-age story. Asher Lev, born into a Hasidic Jewish family, tries to balance his artistic genius with the demands of his family. A poignant and elegant drama, The Philadelphia Inquirer called this play “exquisite” and Talkin’ Broadway labeled it “a truly theatrical experience”.

Since tickets are limited, they will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

When: Saturday, February 13, 8pm

Where:  Delaware Theater Company

Price: $42 per person. Seats are in the Center Section, Rows H-K

Send check made out to Sisterhood of CBS to Linda Sigman, 1106 Webster Drive, Wilmington, DE  19803.  If you have any questions, call Linda at (302) 477-0118.

Rosh Hodesh – January

Posted by admin · Leave a Comment

Ready to brighten up your winter with a seder that does not require separate dishes, scouring your kitchen for crumbs or strange cooking rules?  Come join our Sisterhood Rosh Hodesh Study Group as we participate in a potluck Tu B’Shevat seder.  This seder was born of our mystical Kabbalistic traditions, and celebrates the changes that take place physically as winter turns into spring and the trees begin to blossom (at least in Israel!).  What you may not realize is that the seder also celebrates, symbolically, the changes that can take place within us as we progress from a spiritual winter into spring.  Open to all Sisterhood members, not just our Rosh Hodesh Group.

When:    Sunday January 24th at 7:30 p.m.
Where:   Home of Eva Weissman, 9 Devon Court, Wilmington, DE 19810 (478-4514)
RSVP:    To Galina Chadwick at 654-1684 by January 17th as we will be serving a sampling of some traditional Tu B’Shevat foods and will need all participants to bring a particular food.
